‘Spider Stories’ – Animated Fantasy Series Set in Fictitious African Kingdom

Almost two years ago, the sibling filmmakers – John and Charles Agbaje, raised over $30,000 on Kickstarter.

The series is set in a fantasy world based on pan-African culture and mythology. Titled “Spider Stories: An Animated Film,” it tells the story of a royal family over thrown by a corrupt neighboring kingdom, inspiring a fearless princess, armed with a mystical staff, to embark on a quest, along with a wayward drummer, to understand her homeland, reconnect with spirits and reclaim the captured throne.

Our goal is to create a pilot episode for an animated series. We just pitched the concept at the Harvard’s Africa Business Conference to rave reviews so we are excited about the project.

There’s a Facebook page set up for the project, where you can follow its progress. Almost 2 years later, the filmmakers have released a first look at the pilot via a teaser trailer, which I’ve embedded below. In it, Princess Zahara is on the run from the Hawk Army in the Spirit World, as her Drummer sidekick comes up with a solution:
